Received 26th November 2012.
Dear Ms Bloomfield
Thank you for your emails of November 4th and 13th concerning Four Corners.
As your correspondence raised concerns of a lack of accuracy and a failure to provide an opportunity to respond to allegations, your email was referred to Audience and Consumer Affairs for consideration and response. The unit is separate and independent from ABC program areas and is responsible for investigating complaints alleging a broadcast or publication was in contravention of the ABC’s editorial standards.
Your substantive complaint seems to be in relation to “A Bloody Business’ which was broadcast in 2011. The ABC does not generally investigate complaints that are received more than six weeks after broadcast, unless there is a compelling reason to do so. In this case, complaints were received at the time and investigated. The program was found to have been in keeping with the ABC Code of Practice.
If you believe that the program, “Another Bloody Business” was not in keeping with the Code, please identify what specific aspect of the program you are concerned about and the relevant section of the Code it relates to.
Thank you for taking the time to write; your feedback has been noted.
For your reference, the ABC Code of Practice is available online at http://about.abc.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/CodeOfPractice2011.pdf
